This report is based on data and analysis gathered between January and December 2014 in 60 countries and territories across the world. The report’s findings reveal that the causes and impacts of displacement are multiple and often overlapping, including those related to disasters induced by natural hazards. In 2014, there were people living in internal displacement caused by conflict and generalised violence in all regions monitored by IDMC. As in previous years, displacement around the world varied in terms of its scale, causes, patterns, protection issues, prospects for durable solutions and responses, reflecting the fact that people flee their homes in diverse political and conflict contexts, and in countries with varying capacity and will to assist their IDPs.
